Why Should I Stop Smoking?

Smoking leads to so many 'smoking related deaths' every year and yet it is such an avoidable cause of death. It seems so simple, doesn't it? How many times have you said to yourself "If only I could stop smoking then things would be so much better?" You and your family would be healthier, you would have a longer life expectancy, you would be less at risk of developing cancer, and you would save all of the money that you currently squander on tobacco products. So what has been stopping you? It is that craving that you get whenever you try to go without using your cigarettes, cigar or pipe. This is a sign of your dependence on nicotine. When you deny your body the nicotine it has come to rely on you experience symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. As well as a craving for tobacco, these symptoms include anxiety, irritability, restlessness, and even mild depression. This helps explain why some people are so grumpy in the morning before they have their first cigarette of the day.
