How Dangerous is Passive Smoking to My Family?
Children who are exposed to passive smoking, also known as second-hand smoking, are more likely to suffer from ear infections, asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis and related lung diseases, including lung cancer. The children of smokers are also more likely to require adenoid or tonsil operations than those of non-smokers. You not only put your own health at risk when you smoke, you are also endangering the health of your family. Passive smoking is a serious health risk, exposing others, including loved-ones, to ETS (environmental tobacco smoke). For example, there is a higher incidence of lung cancer amongst non-smoking women whose husbands smoke compared to those women who have non-smoking husbands. You should also try to think of the pain and hardship that you would put you family through should you die the premature death of a smoker or become seriously ill because of your selfish habit.
