Is Smoking Truely Addictive?
Cigarette smoking often exhibits all the necessary characteristics in smokers required to qualify as an addiction. This includes the compulsive use of a substance to the point where it is no longer under the user's voluntary control, an increased tolerance of the substance so that a higher dosage is needed to achieve the same effect, and the development of a physical dependence on the substance exhibited in withdrawal symptoms once they have stopped using it.
