If I cannot find a non-hairy area to apply the patch should I shave an area for it?

Shaving can lead to an irritation of the skin so it is best not to shave an area just before you apply the patch. If you do want to shave an area to use you should probably wait another day before applying the nicotine patch. If you cut the area while you are shaving it you will have to find another place to put the patch as is should not be placed over broken skin.
